Whine (Or the minimum sound of a digital field recording)

The arrival of digital formats spread the idea that digital technology is infinite, immediate and clean. In field recording, one might think that digital recorders offer a format in which the self-noise of the machine itself is minimal or even non-existent. Compared with the noise of analogue formats, however, the self-noise (hiss) has simply changed; it is no longer the same, but it is still there. This work contains seven recordings per se, made with different digital recorders without any input or microphone. What we hear is the (digital) recorder & the recording themselves.
